Five outrageous Immortal Technique moments
By CHRIS FARAONE  |  June 24, 2008

Bigmouth strikes again: Immortal Technique goes on the offensive. By Chris Faraone.
Fuck Jem: Immortal Technique is truly outrageous. In all seriousness, this is as difficult a sidebar to write as “Concupiscent R. Kelly Moments” or “Sucky Jack Johnson Moments. Eminem and Chuck D included, no rapper has ever shocked the rap nation so hard without being murdered or marginalized. Here are some classic shots from an MC who truly bites his tongue for no one.

ONE-UPPING GOD | On the early battle-ready basement cut “Creation and Destruction,” Technique declares himself: “The wrong motherfucker to dis, because I allowed God to let you motherfuckers exist.” On the same track he also threatens to resurrect foes’ aborted babies only to snuff them again.

EXPLORING SEMANTICS | In the most memorable interlude since Mobb Deep MC Prodigy’s “Infamous Prelude” rant, Technique warns: “You don’t have to agree with everything I say, but don’t ever be condescending to me, bigging up your wack friends who rhyme and being like, ‘Immortal Technique – yeah, he’s aiight.’ No, nigga — your mom’s pussy is aiight. Your people getting shot dead in the street — that’s aiight. I’m the motherfucking Immortal Technique nigga — the message and the money.”

PAINTING THE TOWN RED | Addressing the camera on the What Hip-Hop Is DVD, Technique shoots a two-minute-plus a cappella that includes this deplorably delectable threat: “I’ll massacre a rich rapper and all of his broke friends/Then go to Club Cheetah rocking some blood-soaked Timbs/Party-crashing, animal-fucking model bitches/Leaving their stick-figure anorexic asses in stitches.” I’d hate to be the valet at Club Cheetah.

GETTING BANNED FROM HOT 97 | In 2005, Technique speaks out against New York commercial rap station HOT 97 at a rally in Union Square, and as a result of demanding that executives exercise corporate responsibility, he’s banned indefinitely. “I never made a song insulting them or saying that I was going to blow up the station or anything like that. It was basically just a miscommunication.”

RAPING HIS FRIEND’S MOM? | Although he claims to have done so on “Dance with the Devil,” Technique did not participate in — and neither was he present at — the rape of any friend’s mother, as he so gruesomely outlines on this track. Yes, he does say, “I was there with Billy Jacobs, and I raped his mom too,” but Billy’s mom represents all women, some of whom Technique simply regrets not having been very nice to. Hmmm. You’ll just have to take my word on this one.
