Future classic

By CHRIS FARAONE  |  July 1, 2008

All right, we’re almost there, but, yeah, you can get this on iTunes. Maybe give your Low End Theory a rest after 17 years. You’re correct — this is a classic rap album. But times have changed. The way we knew that joints like “Check the Rhyme” were eternal as soon as we heard them back then — well, it’s blasphemous to say things like that these days. The market is wicked oversaturated — nobody ever believes you. But screw it: if I can convince you that this is as close as contemporary rap discs get to perfection, then maybe I can persuade a few thousand readers. I wish I’d taped this conversation; I could have just transcribed it and used it as my review.
