ANNA’S GHOST have their new record with the great mastering gods and you should expect a release date by the end of October. Looks like it’ll be a full-length, but we don’t have the title yet. We just hear it’ll be “something special.” This time around vocalist (etc.) GABRIELLE RAYMOND and drummer IAN RILEY have help in the form of JAKE PIKE on bass and JAMES HAYWARD on guitar.
Actually, the next time you can catch Anna’s Ghost is October 9, at Geno’s, as part of a fundraiser for TINA SMITH’s campaign to unseat mayor ED SUSLOVIC. OVER A CARDBOARD SEA also ply their talents for the cause. What’s up with Tina? The former LEAGUE OF PISSED OFF VOTERS (oops, we mean LEAGUE OF YOUNG VOTERS, because that’s not condescending at all, to change “Pissed Off” to “Young,” nor alienating for those of us who are pissed off but not young) member is a Green and gathering all kinds of support from the local music community. This Thursday, she gets a boost from ARCHAIC LIFE, WHITEHOUSE ON TRIAL, JAYE DREW (and “more”), at the Empire. What? No local bands playing for Ed or fellow Dem DORY WAXMAN? Guess they just ain’t hip. And we all know that hipness is something every city councilor needs on the resume.
Word came in this week that STATIONEIGHTYFIVE has been back in THE STUDIO with JIM BEGLEY, recording their follow-up to last year’s debut, subFM. Look for a spring release following the prerequisite ADAM AYAN mastering session over at GATEWAY.
Three-piece (maybe four) acoustic outfit the MUTINEERS have announced the release date for their sophomore album, Coal Creek. It’ll be kicked off with a party at One Longfellow Square, October 9.
