Wonderdrug wonders reunite

Sibilance
By PORTLAND PHOENIX MUSIC STAFF  |  September 23, 2009

Are you ready for COLEPITZ to be back? Word from ROB KORHONEN (the former ROB EGBERT) is that he and RAY SUHEY (now also in the BALTIC SEA) will be reforming one of Portland's seminal hardcore bands -- the city was once abuzz with their signing to WONDERDRUG RECORDS -- and getting back on local stages. A gig November 28 at Great Scott in Allston is already booked, as is time with JONATHAN WYMAN to cut a four-song EP in December. Look for them to open, too, the LOST ON LIFTOFF CD-release show locally when it goes down in the late fall.

Hope you caught local bluegrass type and general multi-instrumentalist BOB HAMILTON recently -- he's moved to Holland for the next two years or so. Word is his girlfriend scored a job. Want to come along? Um, yeah.

If you're in Boston this weekend, check out the SMALL STONE RECORDS showcase at the Middle East on September 26. The Detroit label will be featuring locals Sun GODS IN EXILE, along with Boston bands like GOZU and ROADSAW, as well as LA's SASQUATCH, Virginia's THROTTLEROD, and New Jersey's SOLACE.

We hope you got your LEFTOVERS fix, too. They're now on tour through December 13 and will hit nine countries in the meantime.

And just in case people aren't paying attention, JERKS OF GRASS have a new permanent home for their Thursday-night gigs: GRITTY MCDUFF'S. Word is there was a bit of a bidding war -- kudos to Gritty's for seeing the investment opportunity.
