Guard says thanks
I have disseminated the article (“Coming Home,” by Deirdre Fulton, July 13) throughout the Maine Army National Guard. I wish to thank you for the incredible depth and sensitivity in which you covered this complex issue, regarding postwar reintegration. I have had numerous senior-level leaders comment on how well crafted your article was and the importance of highlighting mental health care in the Maine National Guard.

Thank you again.

One way to help
I have just read your article which was forwarded to me. (See "Coming Home," by Deirdre Fulton, July 13.) You have hit it right on the head. We are in dire need for mental and emotional healing of our troops and families. I am the wife of Maine Army National Guard Sgt. Michael Albert, a member of SECFOR II. I have started to raise money to develop a relaxing place in Bath where troops and their familes can reunite before returning home. My Web address is www.sacredheartprogram.com. We are a select few who are working to get this nation to recognize the need for this program. All the aid you can give will be truly appreciated. I am trying to raise funds to open this program up so that we may lay the foundation nationwide for all armed forces members returning from war in this generation. We need desperately to keep the families together, to teach the children, spouses, parents, and communities how to deal with wartime Post Traumatic Stress. Then and only then can we forge onward. I look forward to hearing from you.

Aw, shucks, Doll
Thank you for covering the Metamorphosis exhibit and for sending Ian Paige our way. (See “Exquisite Corpses,” July 20.) He did a tremendous job reviewing the extensive amounts of work, and the conversation is also nicely covered. Thank you for that awesome headline!

Ian’s writing is thorough, thoughtful, and generous, as he is. I really appreciate all of the work and time you all put into this.

Thank you and everyone at the Portland Phoenix for sharing this information and exhibit with others, and for reaching to the community in this way, so the open dialogue on collaboration and underground art can continue and grow!
