This week we’ve got a visit with an evil cousin of Sudoku called “Kakuro.” The number to the left or top of each row or column tells you the sum of the digits in that space. As with a Sudoku, you can’t repeat any numbers in a row or column, and you can only use 1–9. See the row of four boxes at the top left with a 28 to the left of it? That means the sum of the numbers in those four boxes will be 28; none of the numbers will be the same. A row or column ends at a black square, so the three-square row in the upper-right corner with a 7 to the left of it may or may not have digits in common with the row with the 28 next to it; they’re considered different rows because there’s a black square between them. Down columns work the same way. Don’t disappoint me here like you did last week. SOLVE!
