The program was preceded by Inventories of Animated Bodies, a group of installations "facilitated" by Prometheus Dance. (Co-directors Diane Arvanites and Tommy Neblett are on the Conservatory dance faculty.) Twelve dancers from Prometheus, the Elders Ensemble, and the Conservatory occupied small spaces around the lobby and the second-floor studio. As the public walked around and inspected them, they went through a set of body-centered structured improvisations concocted by French choreographer Christine Fricker. They looked frozen and withdrawn, like real statues. The only working person who smiled back at me as I toured the lobby was the security guard.
