Hornbacher is so caught up in the sound of her own words, so flush with superlatives and adjectives and meandering stream-of-consciousness imagery, that she sacrifices storytelling for style. She takes too many flourishing short cuts to give us much help in understanding who she truly is. By saying so much, she also says nothing at all.
