“Titian, Tintoretto, Veronese: Rivals in Renaissance Venice” at the MFA.
The painting, as is common for Tintoretto, stitches together several pieces of canvas. But the X-ray showed sharp contrasts between dark and light at some of the seams, which suggests that the separate sections were not all painted at the same time.
