If you prefer to stay closer to the ground, how about planting some greenery yourself? You must apply to the Fenway Victory Garden Society if you hope to till soil in the Fens (check out the guidelines and regulations at fenwayvictorygardens.com), but if that’s too much of a hassle, consider another, more radical way to exercise your green thumb, proposed by Phoenix film editor Peter Keough: “Fill your SUV with loam, open the sun roof, and grow vegetables in it.” That way, your car can grow its own biofuel supply.
