Yes, the title is ironic. Austrian documentarian Michael Glawogger takes his camera into three pitiable spots where there is open prostitution, and where painted ladies, desperate for a living wage, service the most craven clientele. Whether it's in a sex club in Bangkok, a brothel in Bangladesh, or a broken-down town in Mexico, the world's oldest profession is one, for these women, of misery, abuse, and defeat. Glawogger works hard at being objective and dispassionate and unsentimental, but he's clearly on the side of the working girls, and horrified by their salivating johns. As someone says of the paying dudes: "Without these women, these men would be screwing cows and goats."
