Gregg Godfrey and Jeremy Rawle's loose documentary
At the beginning of Gregg Godfrey and Jeremy Rawle's loose documentary about the title troupe, two men dressed in Evel Knievel jumpsuits help launch a friend off of an impossibly high building for a base-jumping stunt. Yes, this is the same bullshit you've seen from this crew on their 2009 MTV show, but this time, it's in 3D and costs $15. Led by motocross superstar Travis Pastrana, the Circus crew prepares for a show at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas by getting as close to death as possible. Though featuring appearances by Jackass alums Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine, Nitro Circus suffers from comparisons to their pedigree, especially when they serve as talking heads, along with Channing Tatum, blathering on about how it's "too dangerous for Hollywood," a silly claim since they've managed to produce three Jackass movies. Here you won't find the earnest charisma of that cast, their hilariously bizarre antics, or the absurd, borderline performance art nature of their stunts.
