Even if McBean is almost too laid back to get worked up about it. "When you're young, you get into some band, and your friends are like, 'What do they sound like?', and you list the three bands they sound like. And back in the '80s, when I grew up with punk and hardcore, the music and the do-it-yourself aspect and the freedom was great. But then it became a form, and a structure, and I just wanted to get away from that. But that said, we honestly don't worry about that too much — we're just a rock-and-roll band, and that's what we like to do, you know?"
