That eerie quiet in mid March is the sound of half the scene blowing down to Austin's SxSW, where Bad Rabbits, Yes Giantess, Magic Magic, Truman Peyote, and dozens more wow the national media. Back home, the former Roxy reopens as 775-capacity Royale; a month later, it'll kick into high gear as the Boston home of New York's Bowery Ballroom booking agency. If the global popularity of Brookline-born Eli "Paperboy" Reed was in question, his fiery appearance on Spain's version of Dancing with the Stars silences the doubters two months before his major-label release, Come and Get It (Capitol).
