Girl Talk's success is no longer sample sized

"To me it's like a fully realized version of what this show could be — on every level," Gillis explains, noting that audience members are picked randomly, not from a VIP pool or by having to pay extra for wristbands to get up on stage. "This whole project has been about embracing pop. Even at the earliest Girl Talk shows, the point was to come with an elaborate show. So in that way, I feel like the show now is not like I had to figure out a way to do this for the project. This makes sense the most to me — it's what I wanted it to be, it's the way it was supposed to be done."
