For folklorists looking for a newer version of the Vashti Bunyan myth (the one about the unknown peasant girl wandering the countryside with a cow and a guitar before just happening to end up in a recording studio — which was not really the case with Bunyan, but remains a nice story), Le Bon provides an easy fix. She herself was quite forward with the press regarding her lyrical themes of beloved animals and their deaths, woven around her personal experience living in the west of Wales. And though Le Bon's pastoral history and her happenstance discovery by Rhys are certainly played up for effect, it's time for listeners to start to consider that she knows exactly what she's doing. ^
