Aside from fending off the inner pain and depression, Sbardella also has focused on keeping his mother's spirits up.

"I moved back in to my sister's room to be there for her for awhile," he said, "and I truly believe that we have found some answers and will grow stronger as time passes.

"My mom is a tough lady, and my family is no stranger to pain, having lost family to things like depression, drug use, and anxiety," he continued. "But she has a new boyfriend, her first since her divorce years ago, and he has really been there for her.

"The last conversation my sister and I had was how we thought he was 'the one,' so I am really happy for her."

Aside from his full-time traveling sales job and moonlighting rap gig, Sbardella's entrepreneurial spirit led to his Kill Swag clothing line. As referenced earlier, Meta P has no love for these new vanguards of swag currently mutilating the hip-hop scene with shitty bars and stale subject matter relegated to cash, grass, and ass. Rhody rap duo DirtyDurdie enlisted Meta for the upcoming show and video shoot this Friday at AS220 for "The Boycott," a song from DirtyDurdie's highly recommended 2012 mixtape Rhymanese Diner.

Metaphysics remains on the grind both in the booth and in front of the camera; he just shot a video for the new Emilio Lopez track "That's Word" from his forthcoming full-length titled Vice City Nights, and is currently recording new tracks with Matty Mischief for an upcoming collabo full-length titled Evolution, set to drop early next year; it will feature guest shots from Celph Titled (of Demigodz) and Gem Crates (DJ Premier's assistant).

"Evolution is a more mature project for me, a lot of serious and grown-up messages backed with classic soul and uptempo beats, with DJ Remedy on the cut," Sbardella proudly declared.

Welcome back, Meta P.

The new EP by PVD trio Gertrude Atherton, Isle of Lost Skulls , is a gnarled beauty of a debut and proves to be well worth the wait. I have been eagerly anticipating this record since catching drummer Melanie Fuest, singer/guitarist Shannon Le Corre, and bassist Nicole Lagace in action a dozen or so times over the past year.
