More than arrests, more than lucrative record sales, and even more than all the ladies that walked through the doors of Luke’s compound or onto the group’s stages, the 2 Live Crew were about having fun, and that is what As Nasty As They Wanna Be is all about. “We were a group that controlled our own destiny,” Luke reminds us. “That’s the most important part, because [there] wasn’t no major label. We could say what we wanted to say, and we sure as hell did!"
