Portland scene report: July 27, 2007

Sibilance starts now
By PORTLAND PHOENIX MUSIC STAFF  |  July 25, 2007

Wondering what's been going on with the Portland Music Foundation? Well, wonder no longer. At the Rustic Overtones shows this weekend and next, the PMF will come out of hiding and start signing people up for its mailing list, which will soon announce a kick-off event and an educational series to run this fall. There's even going to be a Web site. Unbelievable. Anyway, lots of local industry types are more and less involved — Adam Ayan, Charlie Gaylord, Jon Wyman, Spencer Albee, Jan Wilkinson, Jim Begley, Lauren Wayne, Mark Curdo, Tim Ouillette, Wendell Clough, Herb Ivey, Pat May, Mark Lourie — some working behind the scenes in the local music biz, some right out front. Check www.portlandmusicfoundation.org on July 28 for more details.

The "Sibilance" staff screwed a couple things up last week. 1) Greetings from Area Code 207 will, indeed, move over to WBLM (remaining on WCLZ at least till the station's sold), but won't be keeping its regular time slots. Instead, it will run only on Sundays at 9 am. 2) Zach Romanoff is, indeed, playing with a crazy metal band at a Mötley Crüe–fest in LA, but he wasn't the frontman of Stars Look Down. That was Trent Gay. Romanoff played some guitar with SLD, but fronted Matraya and Figurehead locally. Forgive us.
