We’ve got some more details on the new AS FAST AS album. It’ll be out March 11, and it shouldn’t be surprising that SPENCER ALBEE and company have big plans for making it a big deal. Called Destroy the Plastique Man, the album was begun on the West Coast in that Portland during Albee’s short-lived self-imposed exile from this Portland, and features not only bandmates HACHE HORCHATTA (bass), ZACHJONES (guitar), and ANDREW HODGKINS (drums), but also a horde of guest players like DOMINIC LAVOIE (Lucid frontman) and STU MAHAN (the bassist most recently heard from in the DARO review). For the release, there will be a “deluxe live performance of ‘Sleighjacking’” and a profile on WCSH’s 207 show on February 26; a free acoustic set at BULL MOOSE Portland on March 8, where advance copies will be available; and a blowout release show March 14 at the ASYLUM where as many as eight guest performers will join As Fast As on stage.
The PUBCRAWLERS will release their second full-length, One Too Many Again, on, fittingly, St. Patrick’s Day. The disc will feature a number of traditionals (“Itchy Fingers/Wreck of the Old ’97,” “Back Home in Derry,” “Boston Burglar”) along with originals that include “The Boys in the Red and Black,” which the band hope will become the official theme song of the PORTLAND PIRATES. The disc was recorded and mixed by ADAM RENY at CRADLE CRABJAW PRODUCTIONS in Biddeford.
The new, and long-awaited, GREETINGS FROM AREA CODE 207 release is getting prepped for release, with ADAM AYAN putting the final touches on the mastering job at GATEWAY as we write. The tentative release date is April 8, and tracks include exclusive recordings from RAY LAMONTAGNE, DARIEN BRAHMS, SEEKONK, NATE SCHROCK, PHANTOM BUFFALO, SARA COX, AS FAST AS, JON NOLAN, ADAM GARDNER (Guster), and RUSTIC OVERTONES. It’s gonna be hot.
