Dirge overkill

But Price's curious, morbid tendencies have never had quite as welcome company as what he's found with the Winterpills. "We all just really click. There's no emotional pact or anything going on with the songs — I just pass out the songs and we start adapting them, workmanlike — but I have to say that I've felt real moments of musical ecstasy with Winterpills on stage. It's very easy."

So cue the stratus-cloud guitars, the nervous and skittery drums, and the David Fincher creep-out sound effects throughout Central Chambers: the band's panoramic mission shines trippy lamps on all of Price's delicate issues and throws huge, moving shadows all over the walls. As the band's rally halfway through the album promises, "We'll bring you down/We'll sing it out loud."
