It was a terribly sad time for his family and friends but they quickly got together and decided to establish a scholarship fund (the Nathan D. Crowell Memorial Fund) in Nathan's honor at his alma mater, East Providence High School.
The main fundraising event for the Fund is the Block the Shot Motorcycle Run, and the third annual event is scheduled for this Saturday, September 11 (in remembering the tragic attack on America, flags will be provided for all motorcycles). After the run, the festivities commence at Houlihan's Tavern on the River, 28 Water Street, East Providence at 1:30 pm. There will be live bands, raffles, and lots of folks remembering their friend Nathan. Even if you didn't know him, come on by and support a very good cause.
BENNEY SAWICKI
At Casa Diablo, the flags are at half-staff as we mourn the passing of a unique and inspiring man, Benney Sawicki. No one, absolutely no one we've ever known, derived as much joy from life as "Der Benj." To a lot of us who grew up in Pawtucket, Benney was and will always be the stuff of legend.
