4. MADE, PAID, AND LAID
Jack Templin, another managing partner at Betaspring and a leader of Providence's geek-erati, says he has the formula for attracting and retaining the young entrepreneurs who will power Rhode Island's future: make sure they're made, paid, and laid.
By "made" he means connected — not to La Cosa Nostra, but to the local network of thinkers and doers and funders. By "paid" he means, well, paid.
"Laid" refers to not so much to carnal delights, but to the larger pleasures of an active social life. Providence has to be fun, he says. Loud and colorful. Even if it wakes you up at 2 am.
