Sorry state, changing times

You can't expect a university that helped to fund a speaker who downplays the Holocaust and mocks Jewish students before and during his speech to denounce something they have zero relation to ("Rage against the Stool," This Just In, February 3). Northeastern wouldn't even issue an apology after Norman Finkelstein came to speak using our Student Activity Fund — don't look for any miracles here.

CHANGING TIMES

Regarding your recent feature on sexism in the literary world ("All (Male) Things Considered," January 27), this is why many writers are self-publishing and using blogs instead of the New York Times and the like to market their books. As a black woman who writes about "non-traditional black stuff," it's even harder. I think there is a new generation of writers who are utilizing social media, literary magazines, and the Internet more than waiting for the Times and NPR to wake up. Plus, I'd rather be reviewed by blogs like White Readers Meet Black Authors or Smart Bitches, Trashy Books than the Times and NPR. They get a lot more traffic and reach a wider audience.
