Jorge, who actually was a regional "rock star" 30-40 years ago (and a radio talk show host off and on for more than 20 years), knows how seductive the adoration of the crowd can be and the temptation to think that one is a towering genius. But Jorge has always known that he is merely an extremely well-read circus clown (though a good and honest circus clown). We wonder if Dan Yorke could ever bring himself to say such a thing?

MUSIC TIP
A week from today (Thursday, April 2), Nick-a-Nee's in the Jewelry District (corner of South and Chestnut) is hosting a night of music from Casa Diablo regular and veteran actor/musician Gary Cummings. The lead singer with the ace a cappella group the Pink Tuxedos, Gary rarely does an R&B/roots-rock show with a live band these days. In fact, since he lives most of the year in the Great White North of Nova Scotia, it's rare to see him do any sort of live show.

Gary will be joined by bona fide musical masters Rob Nelson and the legendary Mark Taber. We expect that you've been to Nick-a-Nee's and we expect that a large crew of the regulars will be there. But in case you haven't had the pleasure, this is a night to head downtown and indulge in what your superior correspondents consider some A-1 Biggest Little culture. Send healthy snacks and Pulitzer-grade tips to p&j@phx.com.
