The challenge for liberals, then — at a moment when they're besieged both locally and nationally — is to figure out a way to use the Web to play effective defense. It's a daunting challenge, but the need is dire.
"This online stuff, this Internet stuff — it's a tool, and anybody can use a tool," says Blue Mass Group's Kravitz. "It's historical happenstance that we on the left got there first and figured it out first, and people on the left shouldn't assume that it's going to stay that way. Because clearly it's not."
