The games of winter

The winter's major hardware release comes from Sony, whose PLAYSTATION VITA is poised to compete with the iPhone rather than Nintendo's 3DS. The successor to the PlayStation Portable places an emphasis on Internet connectivity, photos, and other social elements, and augmented reality features. Despite the hardware advancements, the software launch line-up is staid, featuring new entries in long-running Sony franchises such as Uncharted, Ridge Racer, and Wipeout. The Vita, and its first wave of games, will be available on February 22.
