Fortunately for Sharpe, police have not yet filed drug charges against him stemming from the latest incident — just trespassing. Let’s hope the whole matter gets dropped; the dude sounds like he’s already had it rough enough this year.
O-lineman special report: Knoxville
So, police showed up at the apartment of University of Tennessee (Knoxville, not Chattanooga) football center Josh McNeil early on the morning of November 3, after neighbors heard the sound of shattering glass and noticed that one of the player’s windows was broken. Cops thought maybe there was a burglary going on.
No one answered the door when the police knocked, so they came in through the broken window and began a search. Inside, they discovered blood and a potted plant on the floor near the broken window, as well as several rifles and shotguns. In the bedroom, they found McNeil passed out, with a bloody arm and three drunken girls.
Cops weren’t sure whom to arrest and for what. McNeil said he and his roommate used the guns for hunting; he wasn’t drunk but passed out on prescription Ambien; and the window had been broken by McNeil himself when he forgot his keys. The girls, however, were arrested for underage alcohol consumption. One was McNeil’s girlfriend. The other two were apparently asleep on the floor.
McNeil was arrested for public intoxication this past year and did the usual 40 hours of community service. Tennessee is not planning any new disciplinary action against the O-lineman.
So no points for McNeil here, either.
