Friday quick takes

-- As the Indians put the death bite on the Yankees in the ALDS, I began to think, "Be careful what you wish for." Like any Red Sox fan, N4N wanted a swift exit for the New Yorkers. The Indians, though, are a far better team right now. But, hey, this is what the ALCS is supposed to be about -- the two best teams in the American League. N4N says, Sox in seven. (If you have extra tix, drop me a line.)

-- In case you've been living under a rock, there's going to be a zany soapbox derby in Providence tomorrow.

-- Reminder: Music Fridays kick off at the RISD Museum this evening at 5:30.

-- Tomorrow, at 0900 hours, Senators Reed and Whitehouse will host Academy Day 2007, at CCRI's Knight Campus in Warwick, for those high school students interested in a Congresisonal appointment to one of the US Service Academies.

-- Teny Gross of the Institute for the Study & Prevention of Nonviolence is guest-blogging for the ProJo from Northern Ireland.

-- Firehouse 13 in Providence tonight presents "Blackwater: the Rise of the World's Most Powerful Mercenary Army" and "War Made Easy: How Presidents and Pundits Keep Spinning us to death."
