LISTEN: Hail Social, "
Hands Are Tied" (mp3)
You’ve probably hit your quota for trendy indie-dance bands masquerading as blue-collar hard-rock degenerates, but
HAIL SOCIAL just might make our cut, by virtue of being one of the most completely shameless bands to hit our desk since Death from Above 1979. Their skull logo is as necro as
that Glenn Danzig “Who Killed Marilyn?” poster, and after touring with Interpol and Secret Machines, they’ve just signed with Polyvinyl. Check the new song above: the singer hints at just enough stoner-age glory that you almost forget how the rest of the band thinks they’re in the Bravery or something.
They're coming to town September 1, which is not today. Thursday, maybe? With Rainer Maria and Certainly, Sir? At the Middle East, 472 Mass Ave, Cambridge 617.864.EAST.
But we're coming at you early for a reason: The first 150 people to text "mideast" to 22122 get in free, courtesy of the
Middle East and Phoenix Media's new g8wave division. It's the jumpoff for this new thing called "Rocklist," which is sort of like the indie-rock equivalent of frequent-flier miles, except it's run through your cell phone. Sign up to get free tickets, food and drink specials, and line priveleges by texting 22122 with the message "ROCK."
