Yeah, so the Asian-looking kid from
Linkin Park has a solo (cough) hip-hop record under the name
Fort Minor. He also got
famous masher-up-er Jay-Z to co-sign the project as "executive producer." Then to set it up he got Eminem's pal
Green Lantern to do the mixtape.
So, like,
ugh, right? Your skin is crawling. But what if we told you parts of it . . . aren't . . . bad?
Before you laugh, let's throw some hypotheticals out there:
JUELZ SANTANA FREESTYLING OVER GNR'S "SWEET CHILD O MINE"? Nope, nope, it's not a fantasy: we're listening to that shit right now. Which is worth the price of admission on it's own -- hell, it might even be worth the five years of annoying pop-rapmetal those Linkin Park chooches put us through. Classic-rock breaks are dug out in spades. Liberties are taken with the Doors and Rush and Zeppelin's "The Ocean." Styles of Beyond wrecks Hendrix's "Hey Joe" like he just spent six weeks at Edan's psych-rap band camp. Not mad at the chopped-up Bloc Party beat, neither.
