Too funny. It's like if someone said, "Oh, yeah -- Ashlee Simpson just held up a bank."

Howie Day, for those who don't remember, was this real young kid from Maine who started out singing cover songs at frat bars, but somehow [and by somehow we mean bidding war] ended up signed to Epic on the let's-make-him-the-next-John-Mayer plan. Don't know if child-star syndrome is at work, but [ALLEGEDLY, the lawyer reminds us] popping pills, harassing stewardesses, and smoking in the boys room on a plane sounds like someone's throwing a my-record-stiffed tantrum. That said, the most disturbing graf in the Globe account is a flashback to an incident we must have missed:

"In March 2004, Day was arrested in Madison, Wis., for allegedly locking a woman in the bathroom of a tour bus after she refused his sexual advances. He then broke the cell phone of another woman who tried to call police, according to the criminal complaint."

As Kathlen Hanna would say, "What's your take on Howie Day: Misogynist? Genius?"
