It appears that after 15 years, Guns N Roses fabled "Chinese Democracy" has been completed. Unlike the last ten times you heard this, a finished version of the album has leaked to the internet through a piggish UK torrent site. (Said site, which maintains extremely nerdy standards for the material uploaded there, has twice deleted the torrent, apparently because it was transcoded from a non-digital source -- the album is currently unavailable there, but is about to metastasize into the mainstream internet.) A mere mention of the torrent on the indie-nerd message board Hipinion has led to that site being pretty much immobilized. The truly insane hook to this story: early responses to the post indicate that hipsters think the album is really fucking good. Hell: totally freezing over.
Damn you, webternet! The whole thing was a hoax. Count us among the gullible who've fallen for this one about seven zillion times. We'll have more details as soon as we get hold of what made it onto Oink.

So, is the rest of the Phoenix as stupid as this?

GREAT SCOOP, FELLAS!
Pls write article about how an early leak of anticipated compilation 2 MINUTE BONERS TO LIST totally hurt sales. K thx.

HAHAHA, better to be an "indie nerd" than a fucking idiot from arizona.

HAHAHA, better to be an excitable guy from Boston than an idiot who thinks a Boston paper is located in a state where people don't even have the Internet.
D, you are an "indie nerd," no? Are you fat too?

Ugh, ugh, ugh. All of the above abuse = totally deserved. We have seen the rube, and he is us. We wish we could hide behind the defense that yes, the rest of the Phoenix IS this stupid, and we're just going with the flow. But no, it's just OTD.
Side note: apparently one of the hoax torrents was actually the Poison covers album. Which _is_ legitimately great.
Current revenge fantasy: uploading the first Zodiac Mindwarp album to zshare, labeled "Chinese Democracy."
