Fire at El Pelon

This photo (taken by Caitlin Curran) reflects the scene at the Fenway's El Pelon Taqueria this morning. It seems there was a fire there last night. They are closed for the time being.

El Pelon, for those who may not know, is one of the best burrito places in town, and we're not just saying that because it's right near our offices. We have no idea what we're going to do for lunch today, or for the foreseeable future. More photos after the jump...

WHAT!

This is an awful tragedy!

I live in France now, but when I was in Boston for undergrad El Pelon was like - my life! I was thinking about how wonderful a burrito would be not five minutes ago when ordering lunch!

My thoughts are with you, El Pelon staff. Bon Courage!

I've been trying to find out how serious the fire was, but haven't found any additional info yet. If anyone hears, definitely post something here. Thanks!

El Pelon is around the corner from my apartment. Today (Saturday) I woke up as usual with a hangover and I had my heart set on a chicken burrito with sour cream and guacamole. When I walked up to El Pelon my heart stopped. I am *so* bummed out.

I guess the fire wasn't that bad, but the Fire Department completely wrecked the place (most likely to prevent the fire from spreading to the neighboring buisinesses, understandably). There's even a big hole in the roof now, too. There's no question the restaurant will come back, it's just a matter of when.
