Hampton State Beach

Take Rte I-95 to Rte 1A. Stretching along two miles of New Hampshire coastline, this is the mostly land-locked state's largest public waterfront area, featuring free nightly entertainment, movie theaters, and tours. The Hampton Beach shoreline offers everything from rocky tide pools and gentle waters to a stronger surf. The Hampton State Beach RV park offers saltwater fishing and a public dock. Snack bars, arcade games, and restaurants occupy the boardwalk. First-aid station, bathhouses, and restrooms available. Metered parking $1.50 per hour, lots $5 to $10.

Jenness State Beach

Just an hour and a half from Boston, this beach faces the Atlantic. A perfect beach for swimming and picknicking. Lifeguards on duty. Bathhouse and restrooms available. Open weekends only from May 27 to June 24, daily from June 24 to Sept 4. Metered parking $1.50 per hour.

Wallis Sands State Beach

The shoreline is expansive at low tide but almost swallowed by the high tide. A family-oriented beach featuring picnicking and hot-water showers. Lifeguards on duty from 9 am to 5 pm. Open weekends starting May 27; open daily from May 27 to June 10. Parking $10.
