New England's only nightime Pride Parade, beginning at 8 pm. Opening ceremonies at noon at Station Park, featuring live entertainment from local and national acts, arts and crafts, Kid's Pride Zone, GLBT Marketplace, food court, and a beer and wine Garden.

The reception rooms and oceanfront lawn of the 1902 mansion are filled with floral displays and horticultural wonders. There are also gardening lectures and demonstrations. Open on Fri from noon to 5 pm, and on Sat and Sun from 9 am to 5 pm. Tickets $13 in advance, $15 on the first day of the show, $6 for children six to 17.

JUNE 24 AND 25 - NARRAGANSETT ART FESTIVAL

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Wakefield, this festival features more than 100 fine-art exhibitors, mostly from New England. Displays include oils, acrylics, drawings, graphics, sculpture, photography, watercolors, and pastels. Proceeds from artist-registration fees benefit the Rotary Club scholarship program. Open from 9 am to 5 pm. Free.

JULY 4 - BLOCK ISLAND PARADE AND STEAK FRY

Parade begins at Legion Park at noon and ends in town. Steak Fry begins at 1 pm at Fire Barn. This year's Block Island fireworks will be held at 9 pm on July 2 at Crescent Beach.

America's oldest Fourth of July parade. They've been marching in Bristol since 1785. Nevertheless, visitors are encouraged to arrive before 8 am. The parade starts from the corner of Chestnut and Hope Streets at 10:30 am, and if you wait around long enough you'll see a fireworks display over the harbor at 9:30 pm. Day-long festivities are held from 10 am to 10 pm. Free.

JULY 15 AND 16 - RI INDIAN COUNCIL POWWOW

JULY 20, 22, AND 23 - BLACK SHIPS FESTIVAL

An agricultural fair featuring tractor pulls, stage shows, crafts, and livestock, plus games and children's contests. Adult events include arm-wrestling contests, dung throwing, lawnmower racing, and seed spitting. Live country concerts every night. Open Wed through Sat from 10 am to 10 pm, and on Sun until 9 pm. Admission $8, free for children under 10.

SEPT 2, 3, AND 4 - NEWPORT WATERFONT IRISH FESTIVAL
