This rustic-music festival runs from Aug 3 through 6, showcasing local, regional, and national bluegrass acts. Gates open on Thurs at 5 pm, on Fri and Sun at 9 am, and on Sat at 10 am. The 27th annual festival takes place June 8 through 11. International performing artists sing, strum, and tell stories that center around a maritume theme. Late-night pub sings, symposiums, workshops, and demonstrations fill out the four-day event. Thurs tickets $12 in advance, $15 at the door. For all other days, tickets $23 in advance, $26 at the door. Four-day pass $70, $60 for three-day weekend pass. Half-price for kids six through 12, free for kids under six.

Located at the Silvermine Guild Arts Center. Performances from the 48th Summer Music Series will be held on Fri at 8 pm. Tickets $20 for Guild Arts Center members, $25 for non-members, $10 for students 18 and younger.

The festival runs from June 1 through 4 and features more than 15 musical acts, including Rhonda Vincent, the Grascals, Peter Rowan, Mountain Heart, the Kruger Brothers, the Bluegrass Gospel Project, and Tim O'Brien. Also on the bill are music workshops, camping, swimming, and an award-winning children's activity program. Tickets $25 to $120, half-price for children 13 to 17, free for kids 12 and under.

Strawberry Park presents its first-ever Folk Music Festival, which features acts such as Eddie from Ohio, Richie Havens, Asleep at the Wheel, and Janis Ian, among others. From Sept 14 through 17, enjoy folk music, workshops, and dancing, as well as camping and horseback riding. Tickets $15 to $85 if purchased by Sept 10, $20 to $105 after Sept 10. Half-price for children 13 to 17, free for kids 12 and under. Parking free.

TALCOTT MOUNTAIN MUSIC FESTIVAL

The festival features the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and takes place from June 30 through July 21. Concerts are at 7:30 pm, grounds open at 6 pm for picnicking. Lawn tickets $17 in advance, $22 at the gate, free for children 12 and under, except as noted. Tables that seat eight are $280 by phone reservation only.
