NEWPORT FOLK FESTIVAL

This year's festival takes place on Aug 4, 5, and 6, when dozens of contemporary voices and folk-music legends converge on four stages. Acts include David Gray, Rosanne Cash, Indigo Girls, and Ronan Tynan. Concerts are on Fri at 8 pm in the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and on Sat and Sun from 11:30 am to 7 pm in Fort Adams State Park. Tickets are available at TicketWeb.com, by phone at 866.468.7619, or in person at the festival office, 770 Aquidneck Ave, Middletown, RI. Tickets for Fri are $30 to $75. Advance general admission tickets to Fort Adams events are $55, $59 at the gate, $5 for children two through 12 either day, free for children under two. A limited number of adult two- and three-day tickets will be available for $95 and $120.

The festival takes place on Sept 1, 2, and 3 and features five stages of music and dance, showcasing Cajun, bluegrass, country, folk, and blues. The Savoy Family Cajun Band are this year's hosts, and featured artists include Los Lobos, Dr. John, Marcia Ball, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, David Bromberg and Angel Band, and Tim O'Brien and Cornbread Nation. There is also a family stage, gourmet ethnic food, and vendors with unique imports. Tickets $25 to $135 if purchased by Aug 15, $30 to $140 after Aug 15. Special early-bird discount is $120 for a full-festival pass with camping privileges. Children 12 and under free, discounts for seniors available. Check the Web site for more information.

SUNSET MUSIC FESTIVAL

From June 22 through July 3, concerts are on the historic Newport waterfront. Gates open at 5 pm, music begins at 6 pm, and headliners start at 8 pm. Tickets range from $15 to $68.
