The Whistler House, built in 1823, was the birthplace of artist James McNeill Whistler. The permanent collection includes etchings by Whistler, and 19th- and 20th-century American paintings by New England artists. Open Wed through Sat from 11 am to 4 pm. Admission $5, $4 for seniors and students, free for children under 16 when accompanied by an adult.
