The Bowdoin International Music Festival comprises five individual festivals, which run from June 23 through Aug 4. MusicFest, June 29 through Aug 4, has concerts on Fri at 8 pm. This season's theme is "The Great Romantics." Individual tickets are $30, season tickets $150. The Upbeat! series, with a mix of traditional and contemporary works, runs on Wed from June 27 through Aug 1. Tickets are $20, $5 for ages 21 and under, free when accompanied by an adult. The Gamper Festival of Contemporary Music, on July 26, 28, and 29, features works of 20th-century and contemporary American composers. Concerts take place at 7:30 pm in the Studzinski Recital Hall, and there is a suggested donation of $10. Information on EuroFest and Artists of Tomorrow will be posted on the BIMF Web site closer to the festival dates.

Kneisel Hall, on the southern slope of Blue Hill Mountain and near Acadia National Park, is a 20-acre school that calls itself ôthe cradle of chamber-music teaching in America.ö The series, directed by Seymour Lipkin, runs from June 22 through Aug 25. Entering its 13th season, PORTopera performs fully staged shows with nationally and internationally-acclaimed performers, this year with guest conductor Giovanni Reggioli. Tickets for this year's production are $29 to $105 and all performances are held in Merrill Auditorium. In addition to these PORTopera performances, the affiliated "MaineÆs Emerging Artists Program" was created to support PORToperaÆs mission to bring opera to MaineÆs communities and to foster Maine talent.
