In its 25th season, this year's Bates Dance Festival runs from July 9 through Aug 11. The festival is a conglomeration of four programs including professional training workshops and a main-stage performance series. Free events also offered throughout the summer. Tickets $18, $12 students. Call to purchase.

Sat. nights ballroom dance socials from 8 pm to midnight. $7 admission includes a free lesson at 7 pm. Call or check Web site for specific lessons in a variety of styles from swing to line dancing. Private lessons are offered. Dance studio is available to rent for meetings or rehearsal spaces.

Offers lessons and public dances in a variety of styles. Waltz lessons Wed from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. with ballroom dancing until 11 pm. Varied lessons (a choice of line dance, waltz, or swing) are Fri from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and country dancing until 11 pm. The fourth Sat features varied lessons from 7:30 to 8:30 pm and ballroom dancing until 11:30 pm. Admission varies from $10 to $15.
