48 Hour Film Project

A film competition held across the country and around the world, consisting of filmmaking teams ranging from solo operators to 70-person crews. In 48 hours, each filmmaking team must shoot and edit a short piece which will then be shown in the final film screening. The annual festival is from July 13 through 22 and includes nearly 100 independent, foreign, and local films. Screenings are at the Waterville Opera House and the Railroad Square Cinema. The festival also features the Maine Student Film & Video Festival along with seminars, receptions with filmmakers, and other cinematic personages. Tickets range from $8-$10, $75 for a ten-ticket pass, and $150 for a full festival pass. Film schedule available online.
