Celebrating its 12th year Aug 3, 4, and 5, the Litchfield Jazz Festival's latest lineup includes Slide Hampton, the Count Basie Orchestra and Nnenna Freelon, Rachael Price, the Mingus Big Band, the Dave Stryker Organ Trio, Don Braden, and more. Music begins on Fri from 7 to 10 pm, and continues on Sat and Sun from noon to 10 pm. A three-day lawn pass costs $98, single-session lawn passes are $37. Snack bars available. Free parking. Events are rain or shine.

The largest festival in the Northeast featuring old-time jazz is held July 27, 28, and 29. Bands from around the world travel to play in this festival, and with 140-acres and four tents, you can be sure you'll have room to enjoy. Acts scheduled to perform this year include Blue Street, Igon and the Jazz Cowboys, the Bearcats, the Galvanized Jazz Band with Jane Campedelli, the Midiri Brothers Orchestra, the Connecticut Festival Band, Swing 39, Bill Logozzo's Heartbeat Jazz Band, Washboard Slim, Sarah Spencer's Transatlantic Band, and the Wolverines. Camping is available for a two-night minimum, as well as cabin-style rooms for overnight stays. A full-weekend pass is $75 in advance, $90 at the gate, or pay $30 for any single session.

The festival runs June 22, 23, and 24 and features ragtime, swing, blues, and traditional jazz. Concerts are on Fri from 7 pm to midnight, on Sat from noon to 5 pm, then from 7 pm to midnight (two sessions), and on Sun from noon to 5 pm. Gospel service on Sun at 10 am. Tickets $20 for Fri and Sun, $25 for Sat and Sat night, $70 for the entire weekend, and $8 for children under 12.

Now in its 78th season, the Music Mountain Summer Music Festival is the oldest one of its kind in the country. The nonprofit venue is devoted to education through artistic performance, hosting chamber orchestra, choral, and jazz concerts throughout the summer. The Jazz at Twilight concert series continues every Sat evening at 6:30 pm. Tickets $25, students $12. Pre-season ticket vouchers are available at $100 for five tickets before June 16.
