Museum of Fine Arts
Surprise! You readers love the MFA. You loved it this past year, you’ll love it next year, you’ll love it the year after that. And what’s not to love? It’s a mishmash of history and beauty, taking the form of painting, sculpture, fashion, jewelry, Egyptian mummies, Andean textiles, pre-Columbian ocarinas . . . all forms of expression that are steeped in culture and serve as storytelling tools. Through the end of August, be sure to stop by their current exhibit, “Sumo: Japan’s Big Sport,” a collection of artwork dedicated to the large-and-in-charge wrestlers of the East. Admission is $17 for adults, $15 for students over 18, and $6.50 for ages 7–17. Free admission for members, of course.
