Combining first-run features, indie docu-darlings, foreign-language films, restored classics, and locally-themed festivals like the 48 Hour Film Project, the KENDALL SQUARE CINEMA is a jack of all on-screen trades. The Kendall is part of the Landmark Cinema family, a large, national chain of theaters dedicated to getting independent films up on the silver screen. Local filmmakers tend to premiere their works here, and with good reason; the Kendall embodies a kind of home-grown vibe that is a rarity in today’s mass-market, nacho-scented Cineplexes. And, for that reason, it deserves to be our champ this year.
