What the ACTORS’ SHAKESPEARE PROJECT does is pretty self-explanatory. A company of players adapts some of the most complex, beautiful theatrical works in history for today’s stage, extracting social, cultural, and political themes and molding them into contemporary messages. It often performs in atypical venues, which adds layers of depth and modern context to centuries-old content written by that guy, what’s-his-name. Artistic Director Benjamin Evett founded the Actors’ Shakespeare Project in the fall of 2004, and has since nurtured it into one of the most relevant and provocative companies in the Greater Boston area.
