Best Venue To See Rock Stars Dwarfed By Ludicrous Stage Props

House of Blues

After Lansdowne Street underwent a nightlife root canal in 2007, Boston concertgoers couldn't help feeling the gaping socket left behind by the closing of Avalon. So when 15 Lansdowne finally shed its Tyvek wrapper to reveal the new HOUSE OF BLUES in February, we were pysched to find a cavernous space with an improved layout, crisper acoustics, and boosted bass (not to mention more easily accessed bars and a full menu of Southern-esque grub). Since opening day, a nonstop barrage of top-notch talent and their correspondingly epic set pieces have graced the HoB's Delta-mud-scrubbed stage — among them, Lady GaGa and her metal-shard islandthe Dropkicks' Celtic cathedral, and Katy Perry and her enormous purple pussy. If your live-music wish list includes jaw-dropping pyrotechnics, the House of Blues is your joint.
