In these trying economic times, no one’s surprised that cheap caffeine is a very hot commodity right now. Also unsurprising is that Canton-based coffee giant DUNKIN’ DONUTS clinches the top spot for best national coffee shop. (Local origins aside, DD is a national presence, allowing us to have it both ways.) The coffee is fresh, hot, and strong, and the service is consistently quick and friendly, to boot. At just under $2 for a medium in most of the city’s 100 locations, Dunkin Donuts coffee is one of the city’s best piston-pumping bargains.
