Saying CHARLIE’S KITCHEN is a Harvard Square mainstay is like saying the Boston Marathon is a brisk jog. The jukebox joint has earned your vote in one category or another for years, and this time it’s the late-night grub that you can’t get enough of. Though we must admit, this choice is incredibly revealing of just how lame our city can be: Charlie’s Kitchen is open till only 1 am, and it’s our go-to for after-hours nosh selection. But just because we’re a bunch of early-to-bed losers doesn’t mean the food at Charlie’s is anything less than kick-ass. Their famous double cheeseburger and veggie-friendly fare (we dare you to resist the portabella-mushroom sandwich) don’t disappoint, and neither do the tacky vinyl booths you kick back in while waiting for your jukebox pick to blare from the speakers.
