With Colombian and Argentinean spots now competing with multiple Brazilian joints, this category is an up and comer. And, surprise! The winner comes from Peru. The awesomely tacky MACHU PICCHU serves Peruvian food as good as you’ll find it outside of Lima. There are, in fact, two restaurants within about 100 feet of each other, both confusingly named Machu Picchu, and both offer authentic Peruvian delights, including churrasco (a thin chuck steak that’s a steal at under $15) and deep-fried yucca, plus heaping helpings of cookies with creamy dolce de leche.
